How to play Neon Merge 1024
Neon Merge 1024 is a 4 by 4 sliding puzzle. A new board starts with two tiles. Slide every tile in one direction. Two equal tiles that meet combine into one tile of twice the value, and that new tile does not combine again on the same move. There is no clock.
Controls on phone and computer
Select Play, or Resume if this browser still has an unfinished board. Swipe on the board, press an arrow key, or use the Up, Left, Down, and Right buttons. A swipe needs to travel at least 24 pixels and it resolves to one direction. Swipes on the board move the puzzle and do not change game. Scrolling the page still works outside the board. Extra swipes or keys during the short slide are ignored, and that lock clears if the animation is cancelled or if reduced motion is on. Pause freezes input. Space and arrows do nothing useful before Play.
Merges, 1024, Undo, and saving
The score increases by the value of each newly merged tile. A row of 2, 2, 2, 2 slid left becomes 4, 4 and scores 8. A row of 2, 2, 4 slid left becomes 4, 4 and scores 4, because the new 4 does not merge again. A row of 4, 4, 4 slid left becomes 8, 4 and scores 8. A move that does not change the board scores nothing and does not add a tile. After a move that does change the board, one new tile appears in an empty cell: 2 about nine times out of ten, and 4 the rest. Score and Largest Tile are shown separately. Reaching a tile of 1024 or more opens a choice to Finish or Continue toward 2048. Continue keeps the same score and does not show that message again. The round is lost when the board is full and no equal tiles can meet. Undo steps back one move, including the random tile that appeared, and it can be used again after the next real move. It does not walk further back, and it does not reopen a round after Finish, a loss, End, or after you leave that result. Because Undo is available, this game does not submit a public score. An assisted public ranking would be a separate feature. Spark Catch, Neon Snake, Lane Drift, and Neon Stack keep their own leaderboards. An unfinished board can be resumed in this browser. New Game starts a different board. A broken or old save is ignored. If the browser refuses storage, the puzzle still plays.
Tips
- Keep your highest tile in a corner and slide along that edge.
- Use Undo once if a slide trapped the big tile, then make a different move.
- Continue after 1024 only if you want a larger tile. Finish stores the best on this device.
